What If Cannabis Cured Cancer

This incredible film by Len Richmond features many of the distinguished scientists who have been conducting studies on cannabis for the past forty-plus years. Here, they report on their findings. This film needs to be seen by as many eyes as possible. Please obtain a couple of copies and share widely--especially with likely voters.

The therapeutic benefits of cannabis for the unpleasant side effects of conventional cancer treatments are well known.

Probably less well known is the fact that over the past four decades, in nations such as Israel, Spain, Brazil and others, more than 20,000 studies have been conducted on the remarkable cannabis plant. It is doubtful that any medicine in the US pharmacopeia has been so thoroughly examined.

Indeed, it is no secret that several pharmaceutical concoctions have been removed from the market when serious and sometimes fatal side effects became so numerous that the risks associated with the drug were outweighed by the benefits.

It is little wonder that many people choose the "lesser of two evils," foregoing treatment, resigning themselves to letting their disease run its course, and accepting the inevitable outcome. Too often, cancer treatment proves to be fatal before the disease would have been.

Brain Cancer and Cannabis
Recent research in Spain shows that cannabis extract can actually shrink untreatable brain tumors by halting the growth of new blood vessels within the tumor.

Breast Cancer and Cannabis
Researchers at California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute, citing results from a November 2007 study, believe that CBD, a non-psychotropic component of cannabis, may also stop breast cancer from spreading throughout the body. Scientists are hopeful that this discovery may lead to a non-toxic alternative to chemotherapy.

Colon Cancer and Cannabis
In August, 2008, scientists reporting on preclinical research in the journal Cancer Research say that cannabinoid cell surface receptor CB1 appears to play a tumor-suppressing role in human colorectal cancer. Well established for its effects against pain and nausea, appetite-stimulation and improving mood, CB1may now also prove useful in cancer prevention or treatment.

Lung Cancer and Cannabis
Medical cannabis opponents have long claimed that smoking cannabis is as or more harmful than smoking tobacco. Research results indicate that this long-held assumption is probably not true, and that cannabis therapy may actually inhibit the growth of cancer cells.

Prostate Cancer and Cannabis
Researchers at the University of Alcala in Madrid have discovered that certain chemicals in cannabis appear to stop prostate cancer cells from growing in the laboratory, suggesting that cannabis-based medicines could one day help fight the disease.

Lesley Walker, director of cancer information at Cancer Research UK urges caution, however, saying, "It absolutely isn't the case that men might be able to fight prostate cancer by smoking cannabis."

Leukemia and Cannabis
Scientists working in the UK have discovered that cannabis has the potential to destroy leukemia cells. They hope that the findings will provide a crucial step towards the development of new therapies for many types of cancer. Dr Wai Man Liu cautions: “It is important to stress that these cannabis-like substances are far removed from the cannabis that is smoked. These novel compounds have been specifically designed to be free of the psychoactive features, whilst maintaining anti-cancer action.”

Lymphoma and Cannabis
In 2002, researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond reported that THC, the active compound in cannabis, appears to induce apoptosis, or cell death, in cancerous tumors of the immune system.

As a medicinal herb, cannabis has the distinction of being one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man. Throughout several centuries of medicinal use not a single death has been attributed to cannabis therapy.

New study results suggest that not only is cannabis helpful in combating the effects of cancer treatments, but it appears to have a healing effect on many forms of the disease itself.

This is not to say, of course, that this treatment is appropriate for everyone. Like any other medication, the benefits of cannabis must be weighed against its risks. Still, cannabis is an incredibly versatile, largely benign medicinal agent that has the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for many patients who have thus far found no relief in conventional medicines.

Listed on this page are several common cancers that have shown positive response to cannabis therapy, along with links to more information. We hope you find it useful.
